The most frequently asked questions we receive concerning joining Freedom Boat Club, our prices, our membership levels, our locations, and our fleet. Find all the answers to your FAQ here. 

  • What are the qualifications of the training staff that will provide instructions?
    Our training staff is comprised of employed, United States Coast Guard certified captains.
  • What kind of training program do you offer?
    All members must complete two hours of classroom training and two hours of on-the-water training before their first outing. All members get access to free unlimited training as long as they are members.
  • Do you offer individual training?
    Yes, all of our training is provided through 1:1 instruction.
  • Is your training 7 days a week?
    Yes, training is available 7 days a week. However, during peak season, to maximize availability for members, we prefer to avoid conducting training on weekends if possible.
  • Are pets allowed on all boats?
    Yes, pets are allowed on all boats.
  • Are reservations available 24/7?
    Yes! However, we ask that you make a reservation prior to 1 PM CST the day before on the online reservation system. If it's after that, you can call our local Reservation Specialist for assistance during business hours (9 am - 5 pm). On the day of, you may also call the dock for availability.
  • Is there a limit to the number of reservations I can make in a month?
    No! You can use the boat however many times you would like as long as it is available.
  • Are there restrictions on the number of weekend reservations I can make?
    Yes, 2 of your 4 advanced reservations may be used on the weekends.
  • How far in advance can I make a reservation?
    Reservations may be made up to 180 days in advance.
  • How many reservations can I have at once?
    You may have 4 advanced reservations, plus unlimited spur-of-the-moment reservations.
  • Can I bring guests along on my boating trips?
    Yes, you may bring friends and family along. Keep in mind, you are limited to the number of guests you can bring depending on the boat. Always check the reservation system to view capacity requirements!
  • Is a reservation for the entire day?
    Reservations are split into two sessions, but you may use 2 of your 4 advanced reservations to have the boat all day.
  • When is the earliest I can take a boat out?
    Boats may be taken out starting from sunrise.
  • At what time does the latest boat return?
    Boats must be returned by sunset.
  • Are you open every day of the year?
    We are closed on the following holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. We are open 360 days a year.
  • What are your hours of operation?
    Our hours are from 9 AM to sunset, 7 days a week.
  • Is there a document outlining the rules and regulations of the club, and may I receive a copy?
    Yes, a copy is available.
  • What is the boat to member ratio?
    The boat to member ratio is 8:1.
  • Are there any additional costs?
    Members are responsible for the cost of fuel used and it is customary to tip the dock staff, with amounts ranging from $5-$20 depending on the level of service.
  • How often are membership dues increased?
    Annual increases are limited to a maximum of 5% as stated in your agreement.
  • How many years have you been in business?
    Freedom Boat Club is the oldest boat club. We invented the concept and have been in business since 1989. 33 years (as of 2023). Freedom Boat Club Nashville has been around since 2016, and expanded into East Tennessee as of 2022 to make Freedom Boat Club of Tennessee
